Another 10!

Ready for Christmas '08? :-) I must shamefully admit that I didn't even send out Christmas cards this year! I only got a quarter of them done so I decided to scrap them all! Lucky for me, I signed up for the Holiday Card Challenge on SCS. We need to make 10 a month! At this pace, I will be done by August! Wouldn't that be fabulous! So I finally finished my first 10! I started them earlier this week after the Mojo Monday sketch was posted. I flipped the sketch and came up with this! It is still the 31st in the pacific time zone so I think I am okay for January! :-)
Recipe:
Stamps: Take a Bough (papertrey)
Paper: sage shadow, whisper white, purely holiday dp, chocolate chip
Ink: purely pomegranate, chocolate chip, sage shadow
Accessories: brads, chocolate ribbon (from Theater Ribbon Originals), liquid applique, stampin dimensionals

Some Love For Our Troops& SWAP cards

One of my friends has a brother who is currently in his 3rd tour in Iraq. I had a house full of little ones today! A 5, 4, 3 & 2 year old! We whipped out 40 cards for her to send to our troops. Each kid did 10! They inked up their hand in the color of their choice. The sentiment is from the Happy Heart Day set (To someone with a very big heart) and the inside says "handstamped by..." The 5 & 4 year old signed their names. My oldest son helped by writing the name in Calvin's and Luke's cards. They kind of look like baby announcements, right? Regardless, I am sure they will be well received!
Recipe:
Stamps: Happy Heart Day, Like It a Latte
Paper: Kraft, whisper white
Ink: apricot appeal, certainly celery, pretty in pink, tempting turquoise, real red
Accessories: 1/4" ribbon, versa mark, heat & stick powder, romantic red glitter

Does this one look familiar?? Last night, I recreated 13 of these cards for a swap with my stampin' up group. I really liked how this VSN card turned out. It was quick to get the 13 done!

I also finished my 6 sister swaps. This was inspired by a card I did for VSN. I intended to make the special closure but didn't have enough jumbo eyelets! Sorry gals! I hope this is still okay. These are both going out today. So 59 cards since last night! WOW!

Birthday Blast

Thursday's SCS Way To Use It Challenge called for paint. It took me awhile to figure out how to complete this one! I finally decided on some Ceramcoat Sparkle Glaze by Delta. I stamped out the stars and attached the planet before glazing the entire card front. A bit of ribbon, a flag, and a rocket with a silver cord trail and I have birthday card! The picture doesn't really do the glaze justice! I love how the sparkle came out!!

Leftovers

What a fabulous idea? I have been thinking I needed to use more of my scrap paper and then come to find out....today's challenge on SCS is to use lots of scraps. So here is what I came up with from some old cuttlebug pink paper, precut dp from an Open House in November, a pretties flower that was sitting in my scrap pile, some ribbon in my "extra" bin, a simply scrappin sticker that didn't get used, and a stamped sentiment. The only thing that I had to find was the base of the card. I did have to cut down the sentiment but no ink or stamps to clean up! :-)
Recipe:
Stamps: Kind Thoughts, Little Pieces
Ink: rose red, pretty in pink
Paper: fall flowers dp, soft sky textured, pretty in pink, whisper white
Accessories: corner rounder, boho blend scrappin kit, 1/2" circle, pretties kit, olive ribbon, cuttlebug, stampin dimensionals

Be Mine

I received the new MFT set that I won on I Heart 2 Stamp yesterday! I inked it up for the sketch today on SCS. I strayed a bit from the sketch with the heart. I had a harder time cutting the heart out of the center but overall I am happy with the result.
Recipe:
Stamps: Be Mine (MFT)
Paper: prints pack, certainly celery, cameo coral
Ink: bashful blue, cameo coral, certainly celery
Accessories: corner rounder, blue taffeta ribbon, versa mark, crystal embossing powder, celery ribbon, brayer

Take 2 Tuesday: Time To Wish Big Again

So I know it isn't Tuesday....sorry to be posting this late! I had intentions of getting this up last night but Jason didn't get home till 9ish. I was flying solo as a parent. Boy, do I admire those out there that do that on a regular basis! You guys rock! I would be a mess! Jordan had basketball practice from 7-8 so it was a late bedtime!

The worst part about my late post was the build up! My original card was made in late November. It was for a sketch from Fresh & Fun. My original card was so so bad! It was when I was experimenting with my sponge dauber and faux stitching! I had intentions of giving to a friend of mine for her birthday but I ended up switch to another card at the last minute so this one has been staring at me for some time. Overall, there aren't many changes. I decided to go for wasabi textured base instead of the vanilla. I changed up the layers a bit but kept the main colors. I did without the sponging and faux stitching but kept the rest. I am much happier with this version, although not dramatic, the subtle changes really make the card more presentable.
Recipe:
Stamps: Time Well Spent, Short & Sweet
Ink: wild wasabi, really rust, groovy guava
Paper: very vanilla, really rust, groovy guava designer prints, wild wasabi textured
Accessories: oval punch, stampin dimensionals, pearl brad, Sherbet & Fairy Tale ribbon

Sweet Celebrations Pixie Pouch

Today's Technique challenge on SCS was to make a pixie pouch. I like the idea of a pencil pouch....the perfect gift for a teacher! I let the dp do most of the work on this one! Another Monday, another simple card! I still haven't cleaned everything up from the VSN weekend. Can you believe it? This is some scrap from Saturday that was still on my desk. Recipe:
Stamps: Celebrate everything, stitched exotics

Everything Kathy

Today's Featured Stamper is KathyC. What a lovely gallery!! I just love this challenge. Every stamper has their own style or way of putting everything together. I choose a very vintage card to case. This card of Kathy's was for Mojo Monday #20 so the great sketch came from Poetic Artistry! I am not a hat pin gal and I don't really sponge often so this was just the CHALLENGE for me. I used the Always stamp set, added some pearls to the hat pin, and used circles in the bottom squares.
Recipe:
Stamps: Always
Paper: bravo burgundy, basic black, very vanilla, ginger blossom dp
Ink: bravo burgundy
Accessories: sponge dauber, pretties kit, vanilla taffeta ribbon, 3/4" circle punch

Good Times

This is the last of the VSN challenges! I still have 5 to make up for but this is the last real time one! Thank goodness this doesn't happen every weekend!!
The final challenge was so appropriate...
"You come home late after a night of partying with your friends...you're dead tired...and HUNGRY. You walk into the kitchen...open the refrigerator...and peer inside. Nothing but leftovers. You start grabbing random items...not really a meal, but it all tastes great. Our challenge for you is to make a grid-type card using only the supplies that are out on your table *right now*. Because this is the final Girls Night Out challenge,at least 63% of the stamping stuff you own should be out on your workspace by now. If you stamp like we do, you should have plenty of options."

Isn't that perfect? Well, my desk was a disaster so I had lots to choose from! Here is my final creation..........
