Go-to Friends

Happy Tuesday! Time for more Go-to Sketches fun!

The world of crafting is a community. When I started card making & blogging, I never knew the friends that I would make, the support I would get, and the general sense of belonging that I would have. ALL from crafting in my home. AMAZING!

Today, we are playing with sketches. :) Each Go-to Gal invited five fellow crafters to show their stuff!! :)

Are you ready for some inspiration?
This is the go-to sketch that I picked for my friends to play along with---(see below)

What do you think?
Here is a little card that I made following the sketch. :)

Stamps: distressed dots background, Feel the Joy, Where You Are Ink: memento tuxedo black, versamark watermark, ranger distress ink black soot Paper: Papertrey Ink cardstock Accessories: Papertrey Ink ribbon, sponge, copic markers

I can't wait to see what these talented girls came up with!

Amy Sheffer Amy is one of the first card makers that I followed. It wasn't too long ago when I was trying my hand at crafting and blogging about it. She always posted such inspiring cards and left encouraging comments that I was quick to add her to my list . She oozes sweetness and is so humble about her amazing talent.

Carolyn King My pal. We met a year ago last January and instantly bonded. Not only is she a genius with stamps but she also would make the BEST neighbor EVER. If I can only convince her to move to the Northwest. WOW....just thinking about that possiblity (as far fetched as it is) makes me happy! :)

Joclyn Nielson Ahh.....Joclyn is pure genius. Card maker, stamp illustrator, photographer...she does it all! She has such a clean and simple style but always adds something extra. So unique and inspiring. AND she is pure sweet.

Julie Campbell I might be Julie's number one fan! :) She magically crosses shabby chic with simple and fresh. She makes me feel like I can be shabby too! :) Now that is inspiring..isn't it? Making ME feel like I can do shabby! :)

Lisa Johnson We really are sisters. Doesn't it look like it? Well...sort of. :) At least, I think we should be! :) I feel at home with her around...does that make sense? Her name speaks for itself. Lisa = talent.

Would you like to WIN a copy of Go-to Sketches?

Just leave a comment HERE telling me about a/some friend(s) that you have made crafting.

You will also want to comment over on Paper Crafts Connection AND the go-to friends' blogs PLUS each of the Go-to Gals blogs AND their friends. All commenters will be collected and 3 LUCKY winners will get a copy! Lots of chances to WIN...so go ahead..comment so you increase your chances. :)

My best friend got into stamping after I shared some of my things. I'm sure she is so happy about that!
Your card is beautiful, thanks for the chance to win!

I feel blessed beyond belief that I've met many people through stamping that never would have crossed my path normally. Nicky especially is becoming a good friend that I treasure, and I'm enjoying getting to know Tara, Ginnette & Hannah more recently. I love the card you posted and am really hoping I can get a copy of this great magazine. Thanks for the chance.

I have made a lot of friends in school from card making. It has been great to find other people who enjoy what I love so much. I really like the sketch you used. The final card is great!

All of the friends I have made in card-making have been online. However, I am SO thankful for them. If it weren't for my sweet online friends who support and encourage my hobby, I would be very lonely! :) Your card is stunning!

It was actually because of stamping (and an incorrectly addressed birthday card) that I was able to really get to know my next door neighbor! She is fabulous and I'm so thankful she introduced me to this whole world!!

GabrielaD said...

Crafting has definitely made my friendship stronger. My best friend does not craft, however, she is really getting into now that I make cards. She made a great card for my last birthday because she felt that she needed to give me something that was not store bought. The funny thing is that she came over to my scrapbooking room to create it.... lol.
Thanks for the chance to win, your card is beautiful.

I have made many friends through stamping. But the most important thing my craft has brought me is a closer relationship with my talented DIL. I introduced her to stamping and she has taken it to a level of excellence.

Beautiful card.
I've made great friends from stamping camps and so many in cyberspace. I have a BFF that we just click together scrapbooking and making cards and gifts. She is so creative and inspiring, but hates to make the tiny embellishments and I love to. I really miss her since we moved so far away.

Lisa H. said...

one of the reasons I really love this craft (aside from gorgeous papers, ribbons, button, stamps and more) is because of all the amazing friends I've met. My DH thinks it's weird that I can call people I've only met online my friends, but I have high hopes we will someday meet IRL! I honestly believe that papercrafters are some of THE genually, nicest people out there!

Love the butterfly! As for friends made...when I first moved to this area, I started crafting at a shoppe just to have a place to go create. I made some really good friends there. Unfortunately, the shoppe is closed now, but the friends are still mine! And thank God for Facebook because when we can't get together to craft, we can still be in touch.

It's amazing how cardmaking and scrapbooking can draw people together and build strong friendships. A few I treasure are: the owner of my LSS, EMI Scrapbooking, Susan Moore and it also reinforces life long friendships like a friend from 4th grade who shares a passion for cardmaking (we could talk about that for hours) Lori Neikirk.

I have made some awesome friends through card making. My best friend and I attended a Stampin' Up party in 1996 and we have evolved from there to here (2010) with the help of so many talented crafters. It's so much fun to look back on our earlier creations ~ 'cause, of course, we keep everything we ever give to each other (even the embellished envelopes :)

The ladies in the Card Club at Scrap Chic in Decatur, GA were my first group of crafty friends. I loved our monthly meetings. Now, I have discovered a great group of ladies and we are setting up our first craft co-op gathering. We plan to share our latest creations and provide input for each other on how to better our craft, idea generation and tips on selling our products. Of course, that will be balanced out by food, drink, and fellowship. It is so nice to have a group that appreciates that I turned half my living room into a studio and does not think I am crazy, at least for that...

No matter what we have going on in our personals lives, we can put everything aside and just enjoy when my friend Amy and I sit down and craft together. Incidentally, I accidentally met Lisa Johnson in Old Navy on the hottest day of last summer and she was ever so sweet! So I would say that Lisa = talent + kindness!

I'll never forget our first crop! Melissa, Alicia, Beth and I. What a group. Alicia & I had known each other for years through work; Melissa was a customer of ours that we really liked A LOT and Beth was Melissa's friend. We brought so much stuff it took each of us several trips. But the best moment of the night was Alicia's astonishment that Melissa did not have a cutter.

We have been crafting buddies ever since. When we get together we rarely get more than one card or scrapbook page done, but the fellowship is priceless!
