The world of crafting is a community. When I started card making & blogging, I never knew the friends that I would make, the support I would get, and the general sense of belonging that I would have. ALL from crafting in my home. AMAZING!
Today, we are playing with sketches. :) Each Go-to Gal invited five fellow crafters to show their stuff!! :)
Stamps: distressed dots background, Feel the Joy, Where You Are Ink: memento tuxedo black, versamark watermark, ranger distress ink black soot Paper: Papertrey Ink cardstock Accessories: Papertrey Ink ribbon, sponge, copic markers
Amy Sheffer Amy is one of the first card makers that I followed. It wasn't too long ago when I was trying my hand at crafting and blogging about it. She always posted such inspiring cards and left encouraging comments that I was quick to add her to my list . She oozes sweetness and is so humble about her amazing talent.
Carolyn King My pal. We met a year ago last January and instantly bonded. Not only is she a genius with stamps but she also would make the BEST neighbor EVER. If I can only convince her to move to the Northwest. WOW....just thinking about that possiblity (as far fetched as it is) makes me happy! :)
Joclyn Nielson Ahh.....Joclyn is pure genius. Card maker, stamp illustrator, photographer...she does it all! She has such a clean and simple style but always adds something extra. So unique and inspiring. AND she is pure sweet.
Julie Campbell I might be Julie's number one fan! :) She magically crosses shabby chic with simple and fresh. She makes me feel like I can be shabby too! :) Now that is inspiring..isn't it? Making ME feel like I can do shabby! :)
Lisa Johnson We really are sisters. Doesn't it look like it? Well...sort of. :) At least, I think we should be! :) I feel at home with her around...does that make sense? Her name speaks for itself. Lisa = talent.

I've made the most amazing friends by becoming a Stampin. Up! Demo!! It's been the coolest ride and now that I have a blog I've made some other fabulous friends including the lovely and sweet Charlene which is where i found out about this blog hop!!! As for your card... WOW!!!
I love the depth of the colours you've used, it's really striking!!
SMiles SHArnee :0)
My best friend got into stamping after I shared some of my things. I'm sure she is so happy about that!
Your card is beautiful, thanks for the chance to win!
I feel blessed beyond belief that I've met many people through stamping that never would have crossed my path normally. Nicky especially is becoming a good friend that I treasure, and I'm enjoying getting to know Tara, Ginnette & Hannah more recently. I love the card you posted and am really hoping I can get a copy of this great magazine. Thanks for the chance.
I have made a lot of friends in school from card making. It has been great to find other people who enjoy what I love so much. I really like the sketch you used. The final card is great!
All of the friends I have made in card-making have been online. However, I am SO thankful for them. If it weren't for my sweet online friends who support and encourage my hobby, I would be very lonely! :) Your card is stunning!
It was actually because of stamping (and an incorrectly addressed birthday card) that I was able to really get to know my next door neighbor! She is fabulous and I'm so thankful she introduced me to this whole world!!
Crafting has definitely made my friendship stronger. My best friend does not craft, however, she is really getting into now that I make cards. She made a great card for my last birthday because she felt that she needed to give me something that was not store bought. The funny thing is that she came over to my scrapbooking room to create it.... lol.
Thanks for the chance to win, your card is beautiful.
I've met so many nice people through stamping. I've learned so much too. Your card is beautiful. What a great idea with the sketches in the magazine.
I have made many friends through stamping. But the most important thing my craft has brought me is a closer relationship with my talented DIL. I introduced her to stamping and she has taken it to a level of excellence.
I have some fantastic stamping friends and am lucky to have them around! I mean you have to love all this to understand our obsessions right? :) We have so much fun together!
Your card is beautiful!!
Wow I love your card
well during my crafty crops I have met some wonderful ladies... some feel like I have known forever and now I cant imagine my life with out them
I think I like this card more than the one that was published. This is awesome. Love how the butterfly is coming off the page on one side but not the other! Beautiful!
Beautiful card! I've made some great friends online through stamping and am also blessed to share this hobby with my Mom.
Beautiful card.
I've made great friends from stamping camps and so many in cyberspace. I have a BFF that we just click together scrapbooking and making cards and gifts. She is so creative and inspiring, but hates to make the tiny embellishments and I love to. I really miss her since we moved so far away.
one of the reasons I really love this craft (aside from gorgeous papers, ribbons, button, stamps and more) is because of all the amazing friends I've met. My DH thinks it's weird that I can call people I've only met online my friends, but I have high hopes we will someday meet IRL! I honestly believe that papercrafters are some of THE genually, nicest people out there!
OOOh my another wonderful butterfly card. I love it, Great work and a beautiful card
Beautiful card!
Eileen in NYC
Beautiful Card, love the distressing and butterfly.
Crafting has given my mom, SIL and I a special bond to talk "shop" and share ideas. (:
I made a really good friend of my neighbor because of paper crafting! Love your card!
How beautiful and lovely this is! I love that butterfly!
I have a lot of internet friends due to stamping. They are always there to support you in good times and bad. Your card is so cute, love how you did the butterfly.
Love your beautiful creation (surprise!)
Thanks so much for asking me to play along Maren. I had great fun playing with your sketch! You rock girlie!
(Looking into relocating :))
Love ya!
I have found stamping and scrapping friends to be the best and most supportive people.
I have found stamping and scrapping friends to be the best and most supportive people.
Love the colors! Black is so unexpected!
I have made friends here on the internet, but also through teaching card making classes at the local scrapbook store. It's so awesome to meet so many fun people who share a love of creativity!
I have a group of friends that I met at church and also at a scrapbook store that come over often to scrap and craft....I think we laugh more than we finish projects, but it's all good!
What a beautiful take on the sketch. Love that butterfly! Marijane
Love your card - so classy! I made plenty of friends thanks to crafting! My best friend I met that way lives in CHicago and we're gonna see each other next week!
Beautiful card! Being a single mom Scrapbooking/crafting with my BFF means so much. We go on a scrapbook retreat twice a year with our LSS (Jan and July). If only we got some crafting done when together....we tend to visit, laugh and eat more than craft.
very elegant card. I hang out with my MIL and her Aunt and Cousin for scrapbooking now. I've also started an ohio scrappers site with the intention to meet Ohio scrapbookers and card makers and organize crops!
Wonderful card! I love your ideas, and I've bookmarked your blog so I can come back and check it out more!
Well all my friends i made through paper crafting are online who see my cards on twitter or in galleries, dont think there are many paper crafters in Sri Lanka! ha ha
Love the butterfly BTW!! pretty!
I made so many of my SCS friends (including you Maren!) by playing VSN! I joined SCS and then played my first VSN a few months after that...so many new friends I made that first year and I still chat away with all of them. It;s so funny when you feel like you know someone but never even met them! It was great meeting you last year Maren at CHA, enjoy your success!
I made a really good friend in a scrapbooking group in a new town just after we'd moved. I needed to get out and meet more people! I don't go out with the group anymore, but the 2 of us have stuck together instead. She could be my mom!!!
Your butterfly is georgeous.
wow Maren - that yellow panel lights the butterfly just like a light bulb!
I have met so many friends - first on SCS and then on my blog - People who, you feel like you've known them forever when you finally get to meet them at workshops or get togethers - it is truly amazing!
Beautiful card! I love the big butterfly!
I have made many friends through blogs and DT. I had the opportunity to meet two of them on a family vacation trip this past February. They were exactly as they are on their blogs...Amazing! :)
Your sketch and your card are fabulous!! I have made many amazing friends through crafting locally - it is so fun to get together with someone else who "understands" my crafting obsession!!
That butterfly is gorgeous...what a lovely card!
I have met alot of wonderful people thru my crafting. I have to say that Jackie my stampin up demonstrator is just wonderful. Without her encouragement I would not have continued stamping and making cards. Thanks to her, card making has become a passion of mine.
One of my very close friends has gotten even closer ever since she introduced me to crafting. It is such a treat to have our crop days!
BTW-love your card!
Good morning Marin!
First of all, great card.
I have made about 10 great friends in the two years since I have discovered blogs, and online crafting sites. I am currently becoming so in love with Unity, that I have made a few friends in that group as well.
If I don't win this magazine, I will definitly be purchasing it
A few years ago I taught a class once a month and the same 6 ladies came every month for two years. How much I looked forward to that and so great to keep in touch with them even though I had to stop the classes. Fun to still share ideas and send each other cards.
Can you say, OVERWHELMED?! But in a good way. So many ideas and inspirations....I just don't know what to do! You all are awesome!
Crafting has definitely strengthened some friendships I have. I meet monthly with 2 groups of women and we craft and share our lives with each other. I wouldn't have known them as well as I do without coming together to craft.
One of the dearest friends I have is Lisa a woman I have never met. I met her on-line through the Paper Craft message board and we have a strong friendship full of all the great components of a life long friendship we both LOVE paper!! heehee
Wonderful card! thank you for sharing!!
Patti
I love butterflies.. this cars is so cute!
Love the butterfly! As for friends made...when I first moved to this area, I started crafting at a shoppe just to have a place to go create. I made some really good friends there. Unfortunately, the shoppe is closed now, but the friends are still mine! And thank God for Facebook because when we can't get together to craft, we can still be in touch.
- Bridget N
thanks for the nice words, you are so kind!!! i am loving the black on black and the butterfly just pops off the card. so great and fun as usual.
I have made some amazing friends crafting. Some are in a yahoo group that I've been a member of for almost 10 years! Love the card design. I can't wait to add this book to my collection!
Great card Maren!! Love the colors!
Love your card, Maren!!! I have met so many wonderful people through scrapbooking. I always tell people that I've never met a scrapbooker who was not nice--they all are so sweet!
Lovely card.
It's amazing how cardmaking and scrapbooking can draw people together and build strong friendships. A few I treasure are: the owner of my LSS, EMI Scrapbooking, Susan Moore and it also reinforces life long friendships like a friend from 4th grade who shares a passion for cardmaking (we could talk about that for hours) Lori Neikirk.
I love the big bold butterfly on your card.
I have made some awesome friends through card making. My best friend and I attended a Stampin' Up party in 1996 and we have evolved from there to here (2010) with the help of so many talented crafters. It's so much fun to look back on our earlier creations ~ 'cause, of course, we keep everything we ever give to each other (even the embellished envelopes :)
Love your butterfly card!
Hi Maren! Love your blog! I have made a lot of online friends through crafting. And met some of them at Scrapfest in septemeber! But I am also so blessed that a lot of my friends also enjoy papercrafting, and we get together often to do so!
Lovely butterfly card.
Love your card! I have made so many online friends through my crafty habit. Even more fun is getting to meet them in person. Life just wouldn't be the same without them!
Love how the butterfly almost seems to be flying off of your card.
I think this is my favorite so far. I love butterflies!!!
Oh very cool sketch off to see what your friends did with it!
Very elegant card! I usually make my friends, then find out after that they are into stamping/card making too -a bonus because I already like them! :)
I have made so many friends through this craft! I have also introduced my SIL to scrapbooking. Through this we have become inseparable and need to share our ideas constantly through e-mail. I am so blessed to have so many scrap book friends....
Love your card and the striking colours you used.
Two very special friends come to mind immediately. Crafting definitely brought us together and with one of them I started a scrapbooking business.
The ladies in the Card Club at Scrap Chic in Decatur, GA were my first group of crafty friends. I loved our monthly meetings. Now, I have discovered a great group of ladies and we are setting up our first craft co-op gathering. We plan to share our latest creations and provide input for each other on how to better our craft, idea generation and tips on selling our products. Of course, that will be balanced out by food, drink, and fellowship. It is so nice to have a group that appreciates that I turned half my living room into a studio and does not think I am crazy, at least for that...
What a beautiful card! :)
Oh my gosh! I have made the BEST friends in the crafting world! I met all my Unity peeps. Two of my BFFs, Carole and Tiffany on the Unity forum. And a bunch on Twitter. Then I met some people on SCS who I get to hang out with in real life since they are local. :)
Oh my, the card is beautiful!
Hey, hey, Ms. Maren!!
I'm oh so lovin' that card ... and those sublime colors just leave me no choice but to LUV it!
Whatta marvy sketch!
(((hugs)))
Bev
Beautiful card - love the dark colors!
very elegant.
I love your card! My favorite part is the bow!
Cute. Love the butterfly and the distressed stripes.
That butterfly is amazing! I found a local mom that does scrapbooking plus lots of volunteer work! So when we have time we scrap and shoot the breeze over a cup of tea.
The women I've 'met' through craft blogs are the kindest and most generous people. It is easy to feel as if they are friends without ever having met.
My sister in law got me started in scrapbooking---I have met so many wonderful ladies --way too many to try to list
LOVE that you took the time to post a little bit about each of your sketch friends today... SO sweet!
Your card is quite lovely!
I have made so many friends by scrapbooking and making cards. Now I am making more by doing art journaling. Playing with paper is fun!
Pretty!
Wowsers! Love that butterfly.
Sharon
I have made many friends through stamping, yet I have to meet any in real life. I have totally solidified a current friendship via stamping. No matter what we have going on in our personals lives, we can put everything aside and just enjoy when my friend Amy and I sit down and craft together. Incidentally, I accidentally met Lisa Johnson in Old Navy on the hottest day of last summer and she was ever so sweet! So I would say that Lisa = talent + kindness!
Beautiful butterfly card!!
Great sketch, beautiful card, talented friends! My childhood friend has become a cardmaker, so we have been able to talk "paper" and old times!
wow, this is GORGEOUS! I love the all black with a pop of blue on the butterfly!!
love the tone on tone, the butterly really pops agains the black.
I have met some of my best friends through stamping. I met two of my best friends over 6 years ago when we met for a stamping retreat.
Beautifully colored butterfly!
Very Beautiful butterfly....great card
You are such an enabler, Mare. I need that butterfly now. It's beautiful!
And your card is, too!
Looking forward to seeing your good self soon!
Love the card...gorgeous.
My best friend got me into scraping six years ago and ever since I've been an addict. Though I was born with an addiction for all things super cute, pens and paper... =) Naz
So Pretty! That's one beautiful Butterfly!
I have made friends and acquaintances
through stamping and paper crafts.
It is nice to share an interest or
hobby with a friend. I love the CAS
butterfly card you made with this
sketch.
I wish I could get my good friends interested in my passion - but no luck yet. As I become more involved in the online community I hope to meet more people that share my passion. I love the bright blue with the black cardstock. Gorgeous.
I feel like I have all these friends because I follow their blogs. But, I've become friends in a different way with my little sister. She's here visiting me, and we've already spent more than we should on paper :)
Beautiful card! The colors are so deep--just LOVELY!
It's such a great experience meeting new friends out in blog land and in the yahoo groups and all of it from searching out others who like to make art. I've found it a kind and supportive group of people. We tend to cheer one another on and find places to express ourselves and our art to each other.
I have met a wonderful group of ladies through stamping. We have stamp camp once a month and laugh so much. And once or twice a year go on a Stamping Scrapping long weekend retreat. We have a blast!
What a wonderful card!
Beautiful card. I use to own a scrap store and made friends with a sister store. We are both closed now (yuk) but have remained good friends.
The black background with the butterfly looks so elegant. Nice card.
I didn't realize I had four card-making friends right in my office until about a year ago. Now compare technique notes, have show-and-tell with our goodies and finds, and schedule weekend working sessions together!
P.S. I LOVE your black on black card!
i consider the ladies i leave comments to are my friends! eventhough we haven't met in person! beautiful card!
My stamping pal Denby I met online, and we have been good friends ever since. She invited me to come and join in with a stamp group that met monthly.
DeniseB
I started teaching a card class at my church a couple of years ago and we have the best time. There is a core group that comes to every class and we have become good friends because of it. Stamping and card making is such a wonderful way to share your talents and make new friends!
I love your card. I have made a great friend at work who loves to scrapbook and we go to crops together.
I love the community that card-making creates, both online and in-person. Thanks!
That butterfly is gorgeous!
I LOVE your bold and striking butterfly. I think I missed the memo though (looks like butterflies were the theme today!) :) --- from YOUR #1 fan! :)
I've become even more best friends with my Mum since we started sharing time togetehr making cards a few years ago. Love your card!
I became intrigued with stamping when I stumbled across a booth at a local craft show. I randomly selected a local Stampin' Up demonstrator from their site and 7 years later, we are still friends. I don't use too many SU products anymore, but I'm so glad to have made a wonderful friend because of them.
This hobby is so great for connecting with other crafty folks! I joined a MB a while ago, and while that board is no longer active, I still chat it up w/ a few of the ladies from all over the US.
It's great that we have this common connection because of our love of handmade gifts...and of course scrapbook supplies! :)
Love your elegant card, Maren. TFS!
I love that I can usually convince my crafty friends to combine orders with me at online stores much to the detriment of our wallets.
Love your card!! Stunning!!
I have met some fun ladies since starting to make cards recently!!
Love all your creations!! You have some amazing talent!!
just wonderful, i love this!
lisa a.
Beautiful - I love it!
Beautiful card! I wonder if that watermark frame is a stamp or did you wing it?
I love your card! Simply beautiful and elegant!
Great sketch and beautiful card!! I have met so many wonderful and talented people through cardmaking and scrapbooking. I feel inspired every single day by my crafty friends!
woow the butterfly looks stunning!! :)
Love the butterfly!
I have found a whole new world of friends in this online crafting world! It is awesome! A lot of them are through Unity but many others, as well.
Love your butterfly, it is stunning!
Birds (well maybe I should say butterflies) of a feather flock together...and this craft has some pretty great feathers flocking together! ok- maybe a little more then just a little bit corny but hey...we are a great group of people wouldn't you agree!!! Your card is gorgeous.
That butterfly is just amazing! Gorgeous card!
What a lovely card! I love it!
Love the card, sweet and simple...
Another great card!
Darling card!
such a beautiful creation. i have been following your blog ever since i stumbled upon it.
i like your creations.
haven't actively participate in crafting...crafting friend is nil...
i'm a bit of a shy crafter so i can't say that i've really made friends crafting.. love your black tone on tone!
Great card and sketch!!!
what a nice card. the colors are great.
Very beautiful, love the embossing and dark color combo! TFS!
What a great card! This is the first time i've stumbled upon your blog, but wow! What an inspiration! Adding it to my google reader right away! Thanks for sharing!
My greaatest joy was introducing my BFF to crafting so now we craft together plus I also made a new friend who just happens to own a crafting store and lets me design with new stuff that comes in - how lucky is that?
I don't know that I have been able to make any new friends :( but I have loved being able to spend time with old friends where we can share our love for crafting as we spend time together. Love your card.
I joined the stamp club as soon as I moved to a new community. My best friends have come from that club
When my sister and I got into paper crafting and card making, we did a few swaps and met the most wonderful and creative person in Washington state. We live in Arkansas, but she has become a good friend..she and her family even came for a visit. Thank you for the chance to win!
amazing cards girls.... and what a sketch you had to work from. great job everyone
love your card, stylish and elegant!
Oh, Maren...I've made some great friends in this papercrafting world of ours! Thanks for this chance to win. I've had my eye on this new publication since I heard about it!
I'll never forget our first crop! Melissa, Alicia, Beth and I. What a group. Alicia & I had known each other for years through work; Melissa was a customer of ours that we really liked A LOT and Beth was Melissa's friend. We brought so much stuff it took each of us several trips. But the best moment of the night was Alicia's astonishment that Melissa did not have a cutter.
We have been crafting buddies ever since. When we get together we rarely get more than one card or scrapbook page done, but the fellowship is priceless!
Love the many friends we "pick up" at different crops, don't you?? Love your card with the distressed black dots on black paper which really made the butterfly POP off the card! Love your inspiration! Great work! Thank you.
The best thing about this hobby is all the friendships! Thanks for yours, Maren! Love your butterfly card, with the striking black-on-black and that pop of blue. Fabulous - just like you! Hugs!!
Ooooo.....this is absolutely stunning! So striking!
Well that would have to be you Maren! I am happy to have gotten to know you through our mutual love of making cards! You know I could sit in your craft room all day and be quite happy... just sitting... and absorbing the crafting energy! Thanks for putting up with my super slowness when making a card or picking out one little embellishment! :-) And congrats on this issue - it is beautiful!
I've met lots of great gals thru cardmaking...i just love having events at my home- what could be better than drinks, snacks, cards and good company:)
jenny
I started out having one or two blogs that I checked daily for card making inspiration - I now have over 75 that are a MUST just to keep up on the current trends. A couple years back I met 3 ladies at an Archiver mania and we struck up a friendship and now we meet several times a month to craft, socialize and share family stories. It's amazing the number of people that are in love with papercrafting!
Your card is gorgeous - would love to win this magazine!!
I have met a lot of wonderful people through cardmaking and scrapping. It is a wonderful hobby.
mks
it's funny that the majority of friends I have made through crafting I have never met YET! :D but I hope to someday! grins!
So many online friends and one of the first I made in my new town was the owner of the LSS. Such a sweet lady!
Crafting has opened many friendship doors for me. Stamping, especially, has brought me together with my daughter-in-law and 3 other gals who meet on a regular basis to create and inspire one another. I really appreciate you, Maren, and many others who share through your blogs. It keeps us going!
Really cute card! Love your blog!
I've made so many friends through my hobby of papercrafting, but my group LOL group of ladies (Ladies on the Loose) are by far the best group of ladies to craft with :)
Karen Kuschel
That is beautiful...
Nice card. Thanks for sharing!!!
I have met some awesome ladies online who share my passion for papercrafting! They inspire me everyday! Love your butterfly card!
Great card. This sketch is sure going to inspire all of us.
What a great way to tell us about all of your crafty fans. I follow many of their blogs and work as well. A wonderful group of women. I have met many great and inspiring crafters in the last couple of years. All I can say is thank goodness for the internet and blogs!!
xoxo, Christine
I have made many 'friends' at classes, workshops, expos - oh, and on the internet! I love seeing everyone's creativity! Such fun!
I actually used to go to crops by myself until my son started preschool and I discovered some other moms who scrapbooked and made cards. None of them had ever been to crops, so we decided to go to one. That was almost 2 years ago, and now we get to one at least once a month. It's our time to get away from doing the chaotic mom thing, our sanity break!
gorgeous card especially the butterfly!
Most of my close friends I've met through paper crafting. There's a group of us who try to meet monthly and exchange and make each other's kits. In the cyber world I've formed several far-away friends whom I've never actually met, but who are wonderfully inspiring ladies!
LUV your card! The suttle background dots are a great idea and who doesn't LUV butterflies. :)
I love, love, love your card! It is just so sweet.
I have made many friends thru stamping, and would feel a part of me was missing without them.
Hugs, pat SMith
